Camera-Side:
1. Initial Enablement and Target Definition
Before the camera can generate a visual map, the analytics engine must be told what to look for.
In-Camera Activation: Navigate to Config → Event → Smart Event. Select Heat Map from the list and check the Enable box.
Set Target: Safire Smart uses AI to distinguish between objects. Ensure the target is set to People, Motor Vehicle or Motorcycle/Bicycle.
2. Area and Size Calibration
Set Alarm Area: Draw the detection zone over the specific floor space you want to monitor.
Set Target Size: You will need to draw a Minimum and Maximum box on the screen.
3. Operational Scheduling
Configure Schedule: Set the arming schedule to match business hours.
4. Data Extraction and Statistics
Once the camera has been running, you can transform video into actionable data.
Statistics Interface: Go to the Statistics or Report tab. Here, you can filter data by time.
Heat Map Overlay: The system generates a color-coded transparent layer over the floor plan.
🔴 Red: High dwell time/high traffic.
🔵 Blue: Low activity/transient zones.
NVR-Side:
1. Channel Selection and Analytics Activation
Select Camera: Choose the specific video channel (IP Camera) from the device list that is positioned for traffic analysis.
Select Event: In the Smart Event menu, navigate to the Heat Map tab.
Enable: Toggle the activation switch to allow the NVR to begin processing and storing metadata from that stream
Define Schedule: Customize the arming grid to match business operating hours.
Draw Area: You can define up to 4 independent areas within a single field of view. This allows you to monitor different product aisles or checkout zones separately.
Select Detection Target: Set the AI filter. This ensures the heat intensity is only generated by people, ignoring carts, shadows, or automated doors.
Set Target Size: Calibrate the Minimum and Maximum bounding boxes. This tells the NVR the pixel-size range of a person at that specific mounting height, preventing "noise" from triggering the map.
2. Data Retrieval and Intelligence Reports
Once the system has gathered enough data, the NVR provides a dedicated interface for visualization:
Report Access: Navigate to the Smart Report or Statistics section of the NVR menu.
Search Timeframe: Select the specific Start Time and End Time for your audit (e.g., "Last Saturday between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM").
Report Generation: Execute the search to overlay the color-coded density map.
Heat Map Overlay: The system generates a color-coded transparent layer over the floor plan.
🔴 Red: High dwell time/high traffic.
🔵 Blue: Low activity/transient zones.
Export: You can export the Heat Map statistics as .jpg.
