Safire Smart - basic course - Installing cables
Now that we have been introduced to the products we can begin the installation of the Safire Smart video surveillance system.
First the cables and when these are ready it is connect and then programming.
After stripping the sheath of UTP cable (make sure there is no indentation in the data cables, they can break by vibration or moving too much) Get the twisted pairs of wires apart you do this per wire pair. Then put them in the color combination of the keystone.
Now see numbers, letters and colors on the keystone sticker. Let's start with the letters A and B. A= the American way So we put the colors in the order of the sticker. Wire pairs 1,2,3 and 6 are always for data and in some cases for power. 4,5,7 and 8 for power, this depends on the PoE standard of the camera and switch. |
Now that we have the cables finished we can start connecting them.
Wiring NVR and PoE Switch with two up-links
Connect the short patch cables to the keystones and the PoE switch which go to the cameras.
Connect one of the UP-Links to the NVR the with a red patch cable.
And the other UP-Links to the router or modem.
When you connect it this way, the data goes directly to the NVR and not through the modem or another switch in the network.
Wiring NVR with PoE
If you have a larger installation with 16 cameras, you can also place the entire installation in a patch cabinet to create a neat installation.
This is of course also possible with a 4 camera installation, for which smaller cabinets are also available.
This allows you to completely close the installation with a lock.
