Reyee Access Points can operate in different modes, allowing them to be adapted to various network scenarios. In this case, we will discuss Repeater mode (MESH).
Repeater Mode: the device is only connected to power and receives the WiFi signal from another access point to amplify and extend the wireless coverage.
Behavior of the WAN port in repeater mode:
When a Reyee device operates in repeater mode, the WAN port is disabled by default. This is done to prevent the possibility of network loops, especially if the device is accidentally connected by cable to a switch within the same network.
However, in some scenarios, it may be necessary for the device functioning as a repeater to also provide wired connectivity, being able to assign IP addresses within the same network it receives via WiFi.
To achieve this behavior, it is necessary to manually enable the WAN port.
This article explains the correct procedure to enable the WAN port on a Reyee device configured in repeater mode:
Step 1
Once the device has been configured and is operating in repeater mode, access the web management interface using the device’s IP address.
Within the web interface, under the Configuration section, you can verify that the device is operating in repeater mode before proceeding with the next configuration steps.
Configuration-> Network-> WorkMode.
Step 2
Once it is confirmed that the device is operating in repeater mode, proceed to enable the WAN port.
To perform this configuration, navigate to the following path within the web interface:
Configuration → Advanced → Enable WAN
In this section, you can activate the WAN port, which will allow the device to provide wired connectivity to devices connected to its Ethernet ports.
By enabling this option, devices connected via cable will receive IP addressing within the same network that the repeater obtains through the WiFi connection.
Warning: this option should only be enabled when the device is not connected by cable to the same source network, as it could cause a network loop. Warning: this option should only be enabled when the device is not connected by cable to the same source network, as it could cause a network loop.
