Guest Wi-Fi network
Setting up and managing guest wifi securely
Setting up a guest wifi in your business of risking the security of your data and devices.
What do you need?
A Reyee EW-series Router.
Every Reyee EW-series router has the ability to set up a guest wifi network.
After setting up the router and opening the configuration page, click more.
Open the Wi-Fi menu and click Guest Wi-Fi.
Create a wifi guest password.
Then click on Advanced Settings.
In the Effective Time option, there is an option to turn the wifi on and off automatically for certain times for when the business is not open to guests, this prevents misuse of the connection.
Furthermore, guest isolation is already off when this is not the case turn it on and press save.
The installation is already ready to go.
Next is the option to check on it.
Connect your wifi device, mobile, tablet or laptop to the guest network.
For the router's IP address in default is 192.168.110.1.
You can see that this page cannot be opened, but it is possible to just access the internet.
Increasing Wi-Fi range
When the wifi network is not big enough I can easily enlarge it with a Reyee Mesh to up to 5 additional wifi access points.
There are two options for this. The first is super easy.
First connect the extra wifi point with the power supply, make sure it is within two metres of the main router and wait for it to be ready for use. (This can take a few minutes)
Press the Mesh button on the main router which is connected to the internet.
Then the main router will start searching for the for new access points (this only works with Reyee wifi access points) and within 5 minutes the connection will be ready. This can be seen when the wifi LEDs stop flashing.
Now all settings have been taken over from the main router, including the guest network and password. It couldn't be easier and now place the second wifi point within range of the Reyee main router.
The second option is to go through the menu of the Reyee main router and press the + Add Mesh Router button and the router will then start looking for new wifi access points and when they are visible, they can be chosen to connect.
An additional advantage is that it is possible to use the LAN inputs to connect non-wifi devices, such as a computer, TV or camera.
Cover large distances up to a maximum of 5 KM.
When the situation is there because there is simply no possibility to lay cables to a nearby property, this could be a workshop, barn or another property that does not have a possibility with its own internet connection or simply to share the costs.
This is where the EST series radio link solution comes in, these are already preset, so no knowledge is needed.
What is important to achieve the maximum distance is a direct view from one point to another (open field) so it is best to place this radio link as high as possible.
The radio link have the ability to go through walls, trees, really this will affect the distance, also heavy rain or snow can affect it, so how to take that into account for distance and conditions.
